Describe the project in your own words.
For this project, we made 2 Calaveras (Poems mocking death) and a piece of art for one of them. We also made an obituary in Spanish honoring someone in our life that has died.
Describe your process of refinement (you may include pix of drafts).
While writing the Calaveras, I had to refine the subjects of my Calaveras and also the proper Spanish words and conjugations to make the Calaveras make sense and flow smoothly. Throughout the process of writing the Calaveras, I had to constantly ask my teachers if I conjugated the word right and if that the sentence was in the correct order. It took me a few days but The Calaveras in the end were pretty great if I do so say so myself.
Finally, describe how your understanding of Mexican culture has grown.
My understanding of Mexican culture has grown by celebrating and going in depth of El Dia de los muertos. Not every culture celebrates halloween, and in Mexico, the day of the dead is very different than anything we celebrate in our american culture. Mexican culture has its very own unique way of celebrating holidays, and I think it’s pretty neat.
